Show Description
In Somebody To Love – A Dance Celebration to the Music of Queen, acclaimed choreographers Debbie Rakusin (African Footprint) and Timothy Le Roux explore facets of relationships in an elegant and sophisticated show brimming with atmosphere, ambience and superlative entertainment. The fascinating landscape of human relationships forms the central theme of this sophisticated production from Mzansi Productions, South Africa's cutting edge dance company. Using a selection of songs by iconic QUEEN star Freddie Mercury and twelve of the most beautiful bodies in Gauteng, choreographers Debbie Rakusin and Timothy Le Roux have sculpted a two-part homage to love. Debbie Rakusin's choreography credits include the closing ceremony of the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, Nelson Mandela's 85th birthday celebrations and several hit shows, among them The Wiz, The Boyfriend, Ipi Tombi, Little Shop of Horrors and the internationally acclaimed African Footprint.

Trained in both dance and drama, Timothy Le Roux has worked with the PACT Dance Company, Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative, Playhouse Dance Company, Free Flight Dance Company, Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company, Vusa Dance and Wilda Dance in Copenhagen. In addition to extensive work as a corporate choreographer, his credits include Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair as well as several pantomimes. Somebody To Love – A Dance Celebration to the Music of Queen marks Le Roux's second work for Mzansi Productions. Eighteen of QUEEN's greatest songs have been especially arranged for this production by DuPreez Strauss for three singers and four musicians who share the stage with the dancers. Classically trained at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, Strauss has worked as artistic consultant, composer, music director, pianist, conductor and performer, accumulating production credits in stage and television productions in South Africa and abroad.
